The Good News: How To Be Saved by Jesus

How To Be Saved By Jesus

Did you know that we are all made to want Jesus? It’s been said that we were all created with a God-sized hole in our hearts and we are never complete until we have asked Him to become the king of our lives.

The Gift Of Eternal Life

When we ask Him to take control of our life, we receive the gifts of salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life. We often don’t know what to do or how to be saved by Jesus, so this page is a guideline to help you get started.

If you want to live a different life, the life of a Jesus-believer, this page is a starting place for living a life dedicated to Him. There are just a few things you should do, as listed below. But don’t worry – this is not a perfect formula that you have to get just right.

The steps below are just to help you understand what you need to do, according to the Bible, to be saved by Jesus for eternity. the Bible is the written Word that God has given us, where he instructs and nurtures us. It’s packed full of all kinds of information on living the Christian life.

how to receive salvation in Jesus Christ

How To Be Saved By Jesus

You do not have to meet certain pre-requirements or behave in a certain way in order to become a Christian. It’s all about asking and believing. Below, I’ve spelled out the simple process of asking Jesus to be the Lord of your life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner (we all are).

Romans 3:23 (CSB) – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:10 (CSB) – As it is written, there is no one righteous, not even one.

Romans 5:12 (CSB)- Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.

The following two verses contain the worst news (that we all deserve eternal death in Hell because we have done wrong) and the best news (that God has offered us the gift of eternal life through his son Jesus, who died for us even when we were still sinners).

Romans 6:23 (CSB) – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 (CSB) – But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

2. Confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9-10 (CSB) – If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, relsuting in salvation.

Romans 10:13 (CSB) – For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

3. Repent of the sin in your life (turn away from it).

Acts 3:19 (CSB) – Therefore, repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.

4. Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins. He promised that he will forgive you because in fact he already gave his life for your – (yes your) very own sins.

1 John 1:9 (CSB) – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

5. Your faith will grow as you trust Him with your life. If you have believed with your heart and confessed with your mouth, you have been saved and are promised eternal life in heaven with Jesus!

John 7:38 (CSB) – The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.

Acts 16:31 (CSB) – Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (CSB) – For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift – not from works, so that no one can boast.

Romans 10:18 (CSB) – So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

Three more things for you to grow into your new life:

  • Get connected with a church that believes the entire Bible is true. If you know someone who is a strong Christian, you can ask them to help you find one. What you need is a good foundation so you can grow and mature as a Christian.
  • Get a Bible and read it. Bibles are free at the Salvation Army, and churches often give a Bible to new believers.
  • Talk to God. Just talk to Him, like you would talk to a friend. Tell Him how you feel, what you need, and any doubts you have. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see answers to your prayers.

Don’t get hung up on details. For now, bask in God’s love and the fact that you have been saved from eternal death. If you’d like to read more about salvation, I’ve listed a couple of reliable websites below:
