My Timesaving Home Cleaning Schedule

I love to have things scheduled, but I tend to procrastinate terribly when it comes to cleaning and maintenance tasks. Plus, with large dogs in the house, keeping up with the cleaning is a never-ending process.

I know that I’m not the only one who struggles with keeping up with the work of a home. This is why I made this free house cleaning schedule below to help you.

You can get your home clean and keep it that way with this simple and easy plan that’s easily adaptable to your life. It covers a whole year and includes a way to track special cleaning and maintenance projects throughout the whole 12 months.

This is a nearly effortless way of taking care of your home. With it, you will always know what is next to do, and it is all right there on one page! This makes it even easier to get everything done in the shortest time possible.

Stay Caught Up With This House Cleaning Schedule

I once had a teacher who frequently said, “Plan your work and work your plan.” I never really paid much attention to what this meant, but now I see what valuable information she was giving us.

With a good plan, we know where to start and when we are finished. It’s easy to dive right in and get the job finished quickly, without much thought. A clean home is easier to declutter, and in reverse, a decluttered home is much easier to clean. I’ve included not only cleaning but also time for decluttering and/or organizing.

I’ve learned that the best way to get finished quickly is to take an empty laundry basket through the house with me and declutter while I’m doing my weekly cleaning routine. Any stray items can go into the basket, and if I am efficient, I can also return items from the laundry basket to their proper places as I clean my way through the house.

Do you have a spring cleaning checklist? Is spring cleaning even still a thing? I have done it in many different sequences (and sometimes not at all), yet I don’t see much difference unless you count that one beautiful day when everything smells so fresh and new after you’ve finished deep cleaning the house from top to bottom.

I do love that fresh scent and the satisfaction of completion, but I prefer to tackle individual items from my deep-cleaning checklist as I go. I try to wipe baseboards, counters, windows, under furniture, and couch and chair cushions on a rotating schedule.

Following an organized house cleaning schedule like this still gets the entire house cleaned at least yearly, and helps keep you caught up all the time, making it simple to stay caught up and always know what’s next. The list also includes some seasonal household chores that go along well with cleaning.

Speaking of cleaning, what do you do about spring cleaning? Is it even still a thing?

I have done it in many different sequences (and sometimes not at all), and I don’t see much difference unless you count that one beautiful day when everything smells so fresh and new after you’ve finished cleaning the house from top to bottom.

I do love that fresh scent and the satisfaction of completion, but I prefer to tackle the jobs individually as I go throughout the month. I try to wipe baseboards, counters, windows, under furniture, and couch and chair cushions on a rotating schedule.

Following an organized house cleaning schedule like this can keep you caught up all year long, making it simple to stay caught up and always know what’s next. I’ve also included some seasonal tasks that usually go along with cleaning.

How To Use This Free Printable House Cleaning Schedule

The plan for my own household (which you can see on the first page of the printable) also includes some seasonal gardening tasks because that’s what I do. You may have other things you’d like to add instead, so the second page is a blank template for you to fill in with your own daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks to individualize your cleaning habits and break the more time-consuming things into manageable chunks.

Now you can get your whole house clean, and keep it that way with this simple and easy plan. Just click on the image below to immediately receive the download, no strings attached.

You may not need to do some of the tasks I do, and you may do others that I haven’t included. If you don’t have pets, you can eliminate washing their food and water bowls or substitute a different chore. Feel free to use my original schedule if you’d like, but don’t try to force yourself into someone else’s routine.

You may want to start small,  focusing on only the daily tasks, and then add in more chores every week. Once you’ve developed your own cleaning habits for the daily and weekly cleaning routine, you may feel comfortable moving on to the monthly on Saturday (or another day of your choice) tasks.

If you want to wait until next year before you move on to include the ‘yearly-by-month‘ tasks, that’s ok. Just do what you can do and pick up wherever you are in the schedule. No pressure. This is a tool, not a taskmaster.
